La Vaquita

La Vaquita is a wine made with grapes sourced from our own organic vineyards located in Maipú, Mendoza.

Bodega Santa Julia presents its first Natural Clarete.

This is a wine made using the Clarete method, whose main characteristic is that it arises from the fermentation together of red and white grapes, the latter in a smaller proportion. Thus, the varietal composition comprises 80% Malbec and 20% Torrontés, vinified simultaneously with native yeasts and a short maceration of 15 days.

The result is a wine with a light color and a great aromatic impact reminiscent of fresh strawberries, raspberries, and cherries combined with floral hints, characteristic of Torrontés. On the palate, the natural acidity stands out, providing a very particular liveliness to accompany paellas, spicy dishes, pasta, and even vegetables.

“Our natural wines have names of little animals because we believe it’s the best way to represent them. They are all linked to a family story, and Olivia is no exception. That’s how we named the calf that arrived at the estate on a very special day, Helena’s birthday, my niece. It was undoubtedly the best gift for her. Soon, a clarete would join the natural wine line, and the idea of naming it La Vaquita is in homage to the new family member, who came to be part of the environment and our life,” comments Julia Zuccardi.

In this way, La Vaquita completes the range of natural wines from Bodega Santa Julia, joining labels such as El Burro Malbec, La Oveja Torrontés, El Zorrito Naranjo de Chardonnay, and La Mantis Pet-Nat. It is available in wine shops at a suggested price of $2,795.
