vineyards
The variety of vineyards located in different areas of Mendoza enables us to combine and discover new wine styles.
Santa Julia is a clear example of the amalgamation of a unique style and the soil diversity that can be found in Mendoza. Starting with the work done in the vineyards and going through the different winemaking stages, Santa Julia displays a genuine commitment to sustainable production and the supervision of all those details that allow the production of wines which seduce consumers worldwide.
Maipu
175 organic certified hectares
This vineyard is located 40 kilometres away from Mendoza City and has got grape wine varieties such as Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontés.
It is 100 per cent organic and supplies the grapes we use for some of our natural wines such as El Burro, La Oveja, El Zorrito, La Mantis and La Vaquita.
It is characterized by being a warm area and having good climatic conditions. Grapes produced in this area become ripe faster than in the Uco Valley vineyards. For this reason, it is one of the first vineyards to be harvested during the harvest season.
Varieties that are grown: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc y Torrontés
Santa Rosa
475 hectares – 170 organic certified hectares – Altitude: 620 m.a.s.l.
This is the family’s largest and oldest vineyard. It is located in the southeastern area, 85 kilometres away from Mendoza City. It has got 106 cultivation quarters distributed over 530 hectares – 475 of them are cultivated. This vineyard is characterized by being in a desertic area with a wide day-night temperature range, which is very beneficial for the grapevines.
One decisive factor in this warm area is the vine training system we use. Here the grapevines are pergola-trained (“parral” in Argentina) which means that the grapevines are held high by a wire structure and guided to form a canopy with their own leaves. Thus, the grape bunches are protected in hours of high solar radiation getting a better aeration and freshness.
The Tunuyán River flows across remote dry areas – such as Santa Rosa – where the grapevines grow along the river bank and the wines are the result of the river influence.
In Santa Rosa we grow wine grape varieties such as Tempranillo, Bonarda, Malbec, and Chardonnay. We also have our own nursery garden where we produce new grapevines.
Varieties that are grown: Malbec, Bonarda, Tempranillo y Chardonnay.
