53 years supporting

our community

From the very beginning we have worked in a constant and firm way on the winery´s whole sphere of influence by launching different projects – related to education, sport, recreation and culture – which tend to include and benefit our staff members and their families and develop nearby communities.

My grandmother, Emma, was always in charge of the area of social development.

BECAUSE COMPANIES ARE THEIR PEOPLE, IT IS NOT ALL THE SAME TO SANTA JULIA WINERY.

cultural

Centre

We have two cultural centres, one in Finca Santa Rosa and the other in Finca Maipu. They offer a range of facilities which can be enjoyed by people who work in the winery and also by people who do not work there. These facilities include a multipurpose room, a computation centre with Wi-Fi, a gym and a library.

education

& commitment

Education has always been a key issue; we offer primary and secondary school education in our vineyards. Besides, we work in coordination with nearby schools in Maipu, Santa Rosa and Valle de Uco.

NURSERY SCHOOLS

Nowadays, we have two nursery schools. This constitutes a beneficial facility for our staff members since they can work while their children are looked after by teachers.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL

We have classrooms in the vicinity of the vineyards. This offers our staff members the opportunity to finish their schooling. They attend classes during working hours and the company pays the tuition fees.

CENS (ADULT EDUCATION) GRADUATION 2021

In 2021 we celebrated a significant milestone when 68 winery workers graduated from secondary school after studying in our classrooms. This was achieved by striking a balance between their working and studying hours.

THE SEWING

WORKSHOPS

These workshops were encouraged by my grandmother and now we are proud to see them working in the Santa Rosa and the Maipu vineyards. There are two sewing workshops run by our winery workers’ wives. The workshops are well equipped and enable the sewers to develop an economic activity. They produce clothing to meet the winery needs but they also have external clients.

The aim of the projects is that all the people who work in the workshops have room for personal and economic development while contributing to the growth of their community.

Located in Finca Maipú and Finca Santa Rosa, today they produce clothing that the company requests, in addition to having external clients.

The purpose of these projects is for all entrepreneurs to have a space for personal and economic development and to improve the growth of the community of which we are part at the same time.

Fair for life

It is a system ruled by Fair Trade International (FLO); it is a non-profit organization which involves different interest groups and comprises 24 member organizations. This organization inspects all the components of the supply chain, from the producer to the merchant and to the end product. Some things we bear in mind are labour conditions, suitable wages, no child labour, equality between men and women and, finally, respect towards the environment.

Santa Julia was the first winery to gain this certification in Argentina and several of our wines carry this emblem so 4 per cent of the final price is given to a committee made up of workers who use the money for social purposes.
