Sustainable Winery of the Year 2026

Bodega Santa Julia was recognized Sustainable Winery of the Year at the 2026 Winexplorers Awards. The award was accepted by the winery’s director, José Alberto Zuccardi..

The award acknowledges Argentinean wineries that made a difference during the year, against a backdrop of qualitative growth in Argentine wine and the consolidation of initiatives that promote its development and positioning. With more than 220 nominations, over 120 companies represented, and a total of 37 categories, the competition reflected the sector’s diversity and dynamism. The evaluation process was overseen by a jury composed of 38 nationally renowned experts, ensuring excellence, transparency, and technical rigor in the selection of the winners.

For Santa Julia, this award holds special significance: sustainability is not an isolated area of work, but rather the core principle that runs through its entire philosophy, summed up in its motto, “We do really care.” This principle guides every decision, from the vineyard to the community, driving a production model that seeks to generate a positive environmental, social, and economic impact.

From an environmental perspective, the winery practices certified organic viticulture across more than 400 hectares, employing methods such as composting, natural fertilizers, and responsible soil management. In addition, it implements water treatment and reuse systems, promotes biodiversity conservation, and actively works to reduce energy consumption through more efficient technologies.

But it is in its social commitment that this philosophy takes on particular significance. Santa Julia promotes initiatives that strengthen the development of its communities, such as the Secondary Education Centers (CENS), which enable adults to complete their education, as well as daycare centers, training workshops, and cultural and sports facilities open to employees and neighbors. These actions reflect a comprehensive vision of sustainability, where the company’s growth is directly linked to the well-being of the people around it.

In addition, the winery has been a pioneer in obtaining certifications that underscore its commitment such as organic production and fair trade standards—establishing itself as a leader in responsible practices within the Argentine wine industry..

This recognition reaffirms Bodega Santa Julia’s commitment and its belief that it is possible to produce high- quality wines with a deep respect for the environment and the community, understanding that—as its motto states—not just any wine will do.
